Toptracer Virtual Golf Course List and Difficulty Ranking
Ranking Methodology
The difficulty ranking is determined by combining two factors: 1) longest tee yardage (the primary objective metric) and 2) the course's real-world reputation for penal design (including tight fairways, brutal greens, and wind exposure).
In the simulator, this correlation is strong: a longer and tougher layout generally leads to lower scores and more frustration for most players

Player Notes – Toptracer Ranges (e.g., Cedarburg/Mequon Area)
- Tee Selection: Drop to White or Red tees for a more relaxed, enjoyable experience.
- Major-Championship Courses: Oakmont, Bethpage, Pinehurst, Kiawah, and Troon feel even tougher than their scorecards due to simulated rough and fast greens.
- Most Popular/Playable: St Andrews and Pebble Beach remain the top choices for fun group rounds.
- Note on Royal Portrush: Only a partial file was available (estimated ~7,200+ yds). It would likely rank in the Very Challenging tier.
